Meetings
Monthly Public Meetings are held at various locations throughout the precinct.
The various Sector Crime Forums also hold public meetings monthly.
Please contact the SAPS CPF Liaison officer at 433-5285 for details, or your local Ward Councillor, who work closely with us.
Senior management of the Booysens SAPS attend the meetings. This allows members of the general public who do not wish to speak publicly to speak privately to the Station Management after the meeting.
The CPF and Sector Crime Forums also hold closed meetings where only those civilians actively involved in Sector Policing meet with SAPS Management and their respective SAPS Sector Managers. This is to discuss initiatives and activities carried out the previous month, and to be carried out during the forthcoming month.
Due to the nature of the discussions, these meetings are restricted to those who have had prior security clearance by the SAPS, which includes a fingerprint and background check.
This check is also conducted for all office holders of the CPF prior to being eligible for nomination for office.
Communications
Before the meetings begin, persons attending are asked if they wish to add any topics to the Agenda.
Also on the Agenda is a General section where participants can raise any matters affecting the public.
Complaints regarding matters affecting only one or two people or a particular area can be addressed after the meeting. There are often around a hundred people at major public meetings, so we recommend complaints, details regarding crime etc be given privately after the general meeting. This is both so as not to have a hundred people sitting waiting whilst issues that do not affect them are discussed, and also so that in the case of having crime related information one does not endanger oneself needlessly.
The Sector Managers are also available who can be given information or answer questions you have.
There are numerous people available at the meeting who can assist you with obtaining details about the SAPS Reservists, Residents or Business Associations, or a Neighbourhood Watch, and we also provide full details on this site.
Funds are extremely limited, so we use electronic means of communications wherever possible.
Copies of the Agendas and Minutes of the public meetings are emailed and faxed to whoever is interested.
Reporting crime
Apart from the personal contact available with the Management of the Station, the usual contact at the police station, as well as fax, phone and email, Crime Reporting Slips are also available which can be completed and handed over personally or anonymously if you like. You can also report crime to Crimestop
via the SAPS website - click on the blue "Feedback" button.
